skip to my loo my darling

11 May
reclined in the bath
steaming old bones
sweat in eyes
looking over at the seat

the throne of the house
with swirling vortex
water closet
loo
of the home

the rounded lines
ivory porcelain
the ergonomic butt-ring
metal hose tank
flopper float and chain
plastic hinges
chrome knob lever

often running to it
to stand with seat up
piddling around
or seat down
sit a spell
to decompress
squeezing in the siesta
drop a load off

read magazines
books of poetry
but like the odious ode
from the purgative poem
postage stamps a roll
commanding
a flush
