New Vinyl

New Vinyl
the new coltraine vinyl lp arrived today
jazz takes me to the moon

the pychedelic tie-died victrola record player sits
front of the fireplace waiting
for the prized disk
next to a 50-year-old working 8-track player
that yesterday played the 8 track cassette
cat stevens buddha and the chocolate box

but now the record player

remove the cellophane slide out the record

stylus down

the piano
fluttering sax
cymbals and clarinet
count down the cape canaveral blast-off

the seated stuffed bear with dog-chewed nose
the first up to dance

the pewter lamp with cupid legs
cuts a rug too

an ornate elephant wood carving from india
begins thumping around the room
playing the trunk the saxophone

the three-legged african stool finds legs
swaying to the rhythm

everything begins to dance
when the senses do

3.9 10/10

thank you Lois, come and dance sometime – the stuffed bear with fluff coming out his nose will take you for a spin
